If GOD declared and passed judgement on something that impacts the human condition, should we pursue ways of reversing that sentence, and if so, why? EZ2GET2.Church pastors Marcus Vanhook, Parchester First Baptist Church, Richmond CA and Jesse Mason, Macedonia Baptist Church, Richmond CA affirmatively agree that taking it upon ourselves to reverse something GOD commanded is problematic and ill-advised. At the very core of Christian doctrine is the fall of Adam, which was the first sin from which all humanity needs redemption. Some might ask why do we need redemption because of Adam? Unfortunately, since Adam’s sin every human being in every generation has been born with a sin nature with the exception of Jesus the Christ. In Genesis 2:16-17 (ESV), the LORD God commanded the man, saying, “You may surely eat of every tree of the garden, but the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”
Adam did eventually break that command, eat and GOD judged him. The following are the words of judgement spoken to Adam way back in ancient times, “because you have listened to the voice of your wife and have eaten of the tree of which I commanded you, ‘You shall not eat of it,’ cursed is the ground because of you; in pain you shall eat of it all the days of your life; thorns and thistles it shall before you; and you shall eat the plants of the field. By the sweat of your face you shall eat bread till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for you are dust and to dust you shall return.” [Genesis 3:17-19 ESV] The clause, ‘by the sweat of your face you shall eat bread..’ is equivalent to money earned from employment to buy food to sustain life. Earning money through employment has been with us for thousands of years. However, over the past 150 years, our modern world has slowly been encroaching on the terms of GOD’s judgement in ways that attempt to reverse what was declared. In less than a decade, Artificial Intelligence (AI) will obliterate the toils of work and in many ways effectually reverse the intent of GOD’s judgement.
One corporation that has provided robots to a BMW factory automobile assembly line in the United States is proposing the purchase of a new product, by 2028, a robot that does on your behalf whatever you do at your place of employment for a one time payment of approximately $30,000. That’s hard to imagine, like a few years ago who could imagine driverless cars moving around autonomously in the streets of San Francisco. Other corporations similar to the one supporting BMW are even closer to producing fully functional companion robots. Some are electronic pets, but use your imagination! Some are life sized male and female dolls ordered to your specification, who walk, talk, cook, clean, perform home repairs, lift heavy objects and provide physical home security. Of course, this contradicts the judgement GOD pronounced on Adam and all humanity after his fall.
